Take Out the Trash: An Exposition on Marriage
This installation, based on the life activities of my husband and me, is titled Take Out the Trash: An Exposition on Marriage. Stitchery and pop-up style cutouts mounted at different levels make the series three-dimensional: cutouts, areas of heavily applied modeling paste and/or beading embroidery stick up off the surface of each 6x9" artwork by as much as an inch. Take Out the Trash is the core of an interactive installation that was recently part of a solo exhibit at The Galleries at Cleveland State University.

Runner rugs hand-cut from my designs by Joshua Cohen of Custom Rug Art. The rugs helped minimize any echo from the speakers, and were made to support the series of framed collages. To make the space more intimate, I faux finished the gallery walls. As I enjoy combining pure abstraction with representational art, I made the walls resemble the paintings of Mark Rothko.
